Just after midnight on Monday, June 15, the Shenandoah Police Department received a robbery past call from the Holiday Inn located at 19333 David Memorial Drive.
Officers responded and learned that a black male suspect - wearing a navy blue shirt, navy blue hat, and a medical mask - entered the lobby and asked the desk clerk for a room. The suspect then stepped behind the counter, holding an unknown object under his shirt, and demanded money. After finding the cash drawer empty the suspect fled the scene. A similar suspect description was given for a man who had just committed a similar robbery at the La Quinta located south of Rayford Road. While officers were on scene they learned of a third hotel robbery, in Harris County, involving the same suspect description.
Officers with the Shenandoah Police Department and deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office then began visiting hotels n the south county area to look for the suspect and to advise employees of a possible serial robbery suspect in the area. A MCSO deputy then located an individual who matched the suspect description. The suspect was detained and it was later confirmed that he was the suspect involved in the robbery of the Shenandoah Holiday In and the robbery of the La Quinta in Montgomery County.
The suspect, Mark Dewayne Fleming, was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he is being held on two counts of robbery.
