The City of Shenandoah has shared in the growth of South Montgomery County during the last four decades and now stands on its own as a thriving small city. Developers and businesses have flocked to Shenandoah in recent years driven by affordable lease space, available land, a strong labor force and ready access to I-45.

About 70 percent of the City’s revenue is from sales tax, which has allowed officials to lower the property tax rates to the lowest in Montgomery County. City staff provides a high standard of service to its residents, and maintains facilities and infrastructure to meet the demands of growth.

Shenandoah began as a bedroom community of 500 homes and was incorporated into a city in 1974. The city limits encompass two square miles that straddle Interstate 45. Within its geographical boundaries, there is a range of commercial and professional businesses, restaurants, hotels, residential neighborhoods, medical services and first class sports venues.
