The next city event will be the Fall Trash Bash, October 19,  from 8 am - noon at the Public Works Bays. 

 If you have any questions please call the Public Works Department at 281-298-5522.

The City will provide disposal of large unwanted household items, along with household hazardous waste disposal, green waste recycling (branches up to 6” diameter, leaves, yard waste), electronic and metal scrap recycling and reuse, and other standard recycling services (paper, plastic, aluminum, steel, etc.). There will be no additional fee for any of these services.

  • Household Chemical Waste
  • Household and Personal
  • Cleaners, polishes, degreasers, drain cleaners, fluorescent light tubes, compact fluorescent bulbs, pharmaceuticals (limited quantities, no controlled substances), oil based paint, stains, varnishes, spray paints, turpentine, solvents, craft and hobby chemicals.
  • Outdoor and Gardening
  • Pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers


  • Tires, ammunition, explosives, medical waste, radioactive material, smoke detectors, PCBs dioxins
  • Electronic Materials Accepted for Recycling/Recovery
  • Computer monitors (CRTs, Plasma, LCD), computers, televisions (stand-alone, console, wide screen, projection screen, CRT, plasma, LCD)
  • Office/Business/Media Equipment
  • Computer systems (CPU units, servers, racks, switches), peripherals (printers, scanners, photocopiers, PDAs and other handheld devices, cell phones and chargers, vacuum cleaners), external disk memory and hard drives, circuit boards, network hubs, modems, routers, network cards, toner cartridges, CDs, DVDs, magnetic tape, Game Boy, PlayStation, iPod, MP3 players, remote controls, digital cameras, GPS systems, CD burners, photo and video equipment, etc.

Shredding Services

A shredding company will be on site to handle the destruction of paper documents. Residents bringing documents for shredding will be able to observe the process while they wait to ensure that all papers are fully destroyed.


  •  NO binder clips, wet paper, hard drives, CDs, video tapes, film reels, and boxes. Metal items that can be bent with two fingers are acceptable (paper clips, staples, etc.).

NOTE: Shenandoah residents only. Ending time will depend on the filling up of the rolling bins; when they are filled, it's over even if before noon. Come early and be sure!
